Just before Christmas, I was asked to help create some images to be used in a baby announcement for my nephew and his wife. This was another creative idea that was brought to me already formed, much like the last one I posted about.
So my nephew and his lovely bride have made the decision that their first child will be adopted. They've got a fantastic story to tell about this and in hearing them tell it, it's clear that the Lord has put this on their hearts. The baby is a boy and will arrive early this spring. And in case you couldn't tell, they've named him Levi.
We met at 3:00 in the afternoon, which would give us some nice afternoon side-lighting. Honestly, this shoot was just plain fun. There's no other way to say it. Abbie had some great ideas and had already set out some props. At my suggestion, we tweaked a few of them, moved a few around to better take advantage of the light. My favorite assistant (my son) was on hand to wrangle the lighting, and once we got everything set, we began to shoot. Here are some of my favorites from the day:
This last one was something I suggested simply because the two of them are too good looking to not do a simple couple portrait. Josh definitely married up! ;-)
I love it when images are more than just images. I love being part of a creative idea that tells a story or makes a statement. And I really love it when the clients are a part of that process and the project becomes a wonderful collaborative event. That's exactly what these last two projects were, and I hope to do more work like this going forward.
